Butch Robins’ Imagicnation

Imagicnation

Welcome to the Butch Robins’ Imagicnation band page. The next segment in a never-ending musical adventure brought to you by Butch Robins himself. Joined in music with Tom Ohmsen on mandolin, Kris Hodges on drums and percussion and John McBroom on bass and vocals, Butch continues his melodic banjo pursuits. Thank you for dropping by, and checking out the schedule, listening or watching a tune or two, or just sayin’ hey. We look forward to a wonderful journey together.

Butch Robins’ Imagicnation, featuring the incomparable Mr. Robins on banjo— has been refining its sophisticated, yet down-home sound since its inception earlier this year. Named and musically fashioned after Butch’s seminal 1970’s Rounder Records LP “Fragments Of My Imagicnation”, this band continues the fusion of bluegrass, funk, blues, jazz and rock styles he helped pioneer at the dawn of the “newgrass” era. Building on the extensive experience he gained while performing, recording and touring with Bill Monroe, Leon Russell, Newgrass Revival, and The Blue Grass Band, Butch is once again writing and exploring new ground in pursuit of his unique musical vision. He is supported by fellow Imagicnation members Tom Ohmsen on mandolin, John McBroom on bass and vocals, and Kris Hodges on drums and percussion. Tom, John and Kris bring a vast knowledge of contemporary acoustic string band music to the band, with their many years of experience in the musical arena of Southwest Virginia and beyond. In addition to its repertoire of new original tunes, Imagicnation is also fond of exploring compositions by Duke Ellington, Little Feat, Robert Johnson, B.B. King, and of course, the Father of Bluegrass himself, Mr. Bill Monroe, among others.
